Your Membership, Explained

CoderOasis runs on reader support. No VC money, no ad network pulling the strings, no brand deals. What you see is what you get — a blog written by working developers who wanted a place to write honestly about technical topics without answering to anyone.

The membership tiers exist to keep it that way.

The tiers

Visitor — Free

The Oasis Report monthly newsletter. Full access to every public article. Comments. Community RSS. The Discord.

That's a real offering. The monthly newsletter alone is worth the signup. If you never upgrade, you're still getting something worthwhile.

Contributor — $2/month ($20/year)

Everything in Visitor, plus:

  • Your name in the newsletter credits each month — "Thanks to our Contributors" section
  • Early access to new posts, 24-48 hours before they go public
  • Members-only comment threads on select posts
This tier is a tip jar with perks. If CoderOasis has saved you time on a debugging session, helped you understand something that mattered, or just been worth reading — this is how you say thanks without a lot of friction.

Developer — $5/month ($50/year)

Everything in Contributor, plus:

  • Members-only posts — deep-dive tutorials, project post-mortems, opinionated technical takes, workflow breakdowns, and things-we-tried-and-rejected reviews. These don't go public. They're written for people paying attention.
  • Monthly Dev Digest — a curated list of tools, repos, open-source projects, and resources the CoderOasis team actually uses. Five to ten picks, one sentence each about why they're worth your time. Hits your inbox the first week of every month.
  • Private Discord channel with a Developer role — where members talk shop, ask questions, and occasionally roast each other's configs.
  • Access to the Toolbox — a living page of recommended software, distros, self-hosting tools, editors, and workflows maintained by the team. Updated when something earns a spot.
  • Polls on upcoming content — your vote on what we tackle next.
This is where the subscription becomes genuinely useful. The members-only posts are the main event. If you read CoderOasis regularly and want more of it — the technical stuff, the opinions, the behind-the-scenes work — this is the tier for that.

Architect — $10/month ($100/year)

Everything in Developer, plus:

  • Your name on the Architects page — permanent public credit on Built by Architects, the wall of people who've kept CoderOasis running.
  • Featured in the newsletter each month — dedicated section, every issue, as long as you're a member.
  • Topic request priority — submit an idea, it goes to the top of the backlog. You get a personal response.
  • "Behind the Oasis" monthly post — an unfiltered look at what CoderOasis is working on. Real numbers: member count, server costs, what's growing, what flopped, what's next. No spin. This is transparency as a feature.
  • Direct access to the team — a private feedback channel where Architects talk directly to the people making CoderOasis. Not a support ticket. An actual conversation.
  • Exclusive early access — previews of big projects, beta access to anything CoderOasis builds, and behind-the-scenes on how posts get made.
  • A personal thank-you from the team when you join.
Architects are the people CoderOasis is built with, not just for. If you want a real stake in the direction of this place, this is how you get it.
